Dayton Philharmonic Trio
DPO TrioThe third trumpet position with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra is a very unique position.  Not only do I get to play with a fantastic orchestra, in one of the most incredible concert venues in the country, but I have the opportunity to perform over 40 shows per year with a unique trio of musicians, Steve Ullery, string bassist, and Michael LaMattina, percussionist.

You might be thinking, "A string bass, a trumpet, and percussion?  That isn't your typical chamber music ensemble."   We're the only one in the world (that we know of) who performs chamber music with such a unique combination of instruments.  Joe Price, a Cincinnati based composer, has written two substantial works for the group, "American Vignettes", and "Theme and Variations" that are performed in schools and retirement homes in the Dayton area.  And, we are always looking for other new performance opportunities.

"American Vignettes" is a 40 minute work that features musical snapshots of different American-like scenes; the circus, New Orleans, and the Wild West.  "Theme and Variations" is a 40 minute work that explores the progression of classical music from Renaissance to contemporary American styles.
